Hello, friends! It’s been a long time since I’ve written on this blog. Long story short: I had a kid in 2019. I kept writing, but as the years went on it got harder to find time for the other aspects of the business… like updating my website. No one tells you it gets HARDER to work as the children get older. 😅
Until they go to school!
And so here we are. It’s 2025. I’m back. The world is complicated, but I think it’s more important than ever to tell these kinds of stories. And I’m looking at the books I’ve brought into this world over the years, and it’s clear to me that some of them need attention.
I started a little haphazardly, grabbing the first book that was due out of Kindle Unlimited: Lucky Love.
In the past two months, this book has received a complete edit and a new cover. The story is largely the same, but some of the details and motivations and sharp edges of the characters are smoothed out. Is it perfect? No, to my chagrin. I felt like I could spend another year on it, but that would be unfair to the rest of the stories I have to tell. So now it’s here, and better. It’s also wide, which means it is no longer in Kindle Unlimited (KU requires exclusivity… which means the ebook can’t be published anywhere else), and will be published to retailers like Kobo, Barnes & Noble, Apple, and Google Play.
I see you, faithful Kindle Unlimited readers. Unfortunately, only halfway through this process did I figure out a path forward with this that felt right. Lucky Love came out without notification… but for the rest of the books, I will give you notice before it comes out of Kindle Unlimited and you will get the updated version before I pulled it out to publish wide. It’s going to be a slow process.
Here’s what I’m thinking. I’ll aim for a book a quarter and swing back to the beginning. I’ll notify my email list when the updated versions are live and let you know when the book is due out of KU.
Here’s a list which I’ll update with specific dates as they get closer:
- Sweet Surrender – due out March 2026, old version still live
- Just Jada – due out May 2026, old version still live
- Lucky Love – Glow up published wide
- Rocky Road – due out August 2026, old version still live
- Halfway Home – due out October 2026, old version still live
Honestly, just putting this out there gives me hives, but it gives me something to aim for. The dates may shift slightly, or more than slightly. But if you are on my email list, I’ll be sure to communicate when the glowed-up versions are in KU, and when they’ll be coming out.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q #1: If I’ve read these books already, should I read them again?
A #1: I will stay as close to the story as possible while editing, so if you’re not a re-reader then no. But my goal in each edit is to deepen the reader experience, so they will probably be slightly different.
Q #2: Will the Catskill Crew books go wide?
For now, I’m just bringing my backlist wide (the Sapphic Smithie books). Currently, I do not plan to bring the Catskill Crew series wide, and new books in that series will be published into KU.
Q #3: Why are you doing this?
Kindle Unlimited has offered many voracious readers the chance to read affordably–and that is amazing. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of that. But, for a long time, I’ve also wanted to be in libraries (I’m a librarian, after all!) and I want the freedom to bring these stories to new readers on different platforms. It’s time.
I can’t say exactly what the future will bring, so many things are changing so quickly, BUT whatever it is, I will keep writing, and we will keep flowing with this. You have my word that I will try to be as fair and thoughtful about the business choices I make as possible.
